In the Beginning

In the beginning, God created heaven and Earth. He saw they were without form or light so he created day and night and divided the land from the waters. In the process of creating the land, God created the Alps. And he saw they were good. Somehow over the next five days, along with grass, cattle, birds, and everything else, God also found time to create men and women. And he saw they were good. And on the seventh day he rested. Or, so we have always believed. However, according to recently unearthed Book of Cyclronomy, God did not rest on the seventh day, but instead, created the bicycle. And he saw it was good. So he put women and men on the bicycle and told them to climb the Alps. So according to his commandment, we soon depart for the Alps. To be more specific, the French Alps because if you ask any Frenchmen, God is most certainly French.

A little background. In a few short days, 10 cyclists from Team Tuesday Thursday,Team K-Man and the Zoo Group depart for Europe. For over a year, in fits and starts, this trip has come together. The official part of the cycling tour has been organized through The Cycling House Tours and runs September 9-15. However, several of us are going over a few days early to adjust to the time change, altitude, and to get a few European miles in our legs.  We’ve also taken on the challenge of sampling French cheeses, wines, and other culinary delights. We want to be able to properly brief our late arriving teammates on their eating and drinking options.

As with past cycling trips, I will try to post to this blog every day and capture the events and sprit of our Alps Adventure. This is a goal, not a promise. Fatigue, dehydration, sunstroke or a really good Cotes du Rhone may keep me from my task.

If you enjoy the blog, please feel free to share it with others. Comments and words of encouragement are always welcome.

  1. God Created Water too and some of enjoy that weightlessness of being one-with-water as we also enjoy the glides and efforts of the climb and the float of the descent
